Thesis Title: The economic structures of the prehistoric Hallstatt salt mines (working title)
About
Kerstin is head of the HALL-IMPACT project funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Ressearch Associate at the Department of Prehistory/NHM Vienna since 2010. Her research centres on studying prehistoric economic structures as well as human response to environmental change. Her project investigates spatial structures, environmental conditions and economic structures during Bronze and Early Iron Age in the region surrounding the prehistoric Hallstatt salt mines. This also represents her PhD-Subject.
She has been curatorial assistant at the Department since 2002 and is strongly involved in exhibition organisation and management with different Austrian museums. Together with the National Museum of Upper Austria she is involved in a project studying the representation of prehistoric gender relations in the archaeological exhibitions of Austria. Since 2005 she is external lecturer at the University of Vienna on archaeology and popular culture.
